Lake Fountain Maintenance
Maintenance is non-existent with good water quality and proper
installation, with the exception of occasional cleaning of the
light lens. That's it!
Water environments challenged with heavy algae or calcium
require an occasional cleaning of the nozzle and intake screen
with a wire brush to insure proper water flow for both the motor
and the fountain display. The motors are water cooled and have
no oil, therefore, no need for oil changes.
To extend the life of your pump and motor, we recommend
the following:
- ADEQUATE ELECTRICITY TO THE MOTOR -- Have licensed commercial
electrician make electrical hook-ups. No voltage drop to the
motor.
- ADEQUATE WATER TO COOL THE MOTOR -- Keep water and fountain
clean.
- NO DRY RUNS -- The pump & motor are water cooled so running
them on land will indeed burn them up.
- TRANSIENT VOLTAGE SURGE PROTECTION -- Provided on Desert
Rain fountains.
- GROUND FAULT PROTECTION -- Provided on Desert Rain fountains.
- PROPER INSTALLATION -- Follow installation instructions.
- GOOD WATER QUALITY -- If your lake is unhealthy, it probably
isn't great for your fountain either.
- NO FISHING NEAR FOUNTAIN OR ELECTRICAL CABLE -- Fishing hooks
can damage the wire casing creating electrical leaks that cause
heavy amp draws that cause the motor to run hot which will eventually
burn the motor up.
